In their audition televised on June 12, the cats and dogs of Gregory Popovich’s Comedy Pet Theater impressed the judges on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and advanced to the next round. Judges David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne were amused with the performances of the cats, NBC reported, and were even more impressed when they learned that all the feline performers were adopted from animal shelters. Even Piers Morgan voted to advance the troupe to the next round of judging.
The Comedy Pet Theater, featuring 15 cats and 10 dogs, is the brainchild of Gregory Popovich, Moscow Circus star and award-winning master juggler. His performance on “America’s Got Talent” showcased his juggling skills and highlighted the individual talents of his animal performers.
“I do not really train cats. They are very independent animals,” Popovich has stated. “I look for what they want to do, and I simply encourage them to do it in my show.”
When not performing on television, Popovich’s troupe appears at the V Theater in the Desert Passage Mall inside the Aladdin Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. For more information about Comedy Pet Theater and the cats and dogs that perform in the show, click here.
